(FixThisNation.com) – Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP), a political conservative network affiliated with billionaire Charles Koch, has officially backed former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley for the presidency. Over the last few weeks, Haley has emerged as one of the top contenders going against the Republican primary race’s frontrunner, former President Donald Trump.
In the memo released on Tuesday regarding the group’s support for Haley, who had been the United States ambassador to the United Nations during the Trump administration, the group argued that she was a strong candidate who would be able to defeat Trump against President Biden in the Republican primary. They further argue that she would be able to win against President Joe Biden in the general election.
This is the first time that the group has endorsed a Republican candidate in the presidential primary race, which could potentially allow Haley to have access to a lot of resources in order to bring forward a challenge against Trump.
Emily Seidel, the AFP’s senior adviser who wrote the memo notes that Haley would act as a new opportunity for America to move on to a new political era and would allow the Republican party to win against President Biden in the November 2024 presidential election. The memo continues by noting that Haley has what is needed in order to progress the nation’s policy agenda and to help ensure that the future of the country is brighter. It added that should Trump or Biden be elected then the country would continue to move downwards.
