(FixThisNation.com) – On Sunday, former Attorney General Bill Barr during a segment on ABC’s “This Week” argued that former President Donald Trump is the “most likely” GOP candidate to lose in a matchup against President Biden in 2024.

During his appearance on the show, Barr discussed Trump’s recent indictment and charges in the hush money case following Trump’s arraignment in a Manhattan court on Tuesday. Regarding this case, he noted that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s (D) decision to be opaque about the case was probably a sign of the case being weak.

He added that this could potentially end up being good for the Democrats and for President Biden if he ends up launching a presidential campaign in 2024. Barr argued that the “savvy Democratic strategists” know that the indictment is going to help Trump potentially become the 2024 GOP nominee, which is what they want as he is the GOP candidate “most likely to lose” against Biden.

Trump is the first U.S. president, either former or current, in history to have faced criminal charges. On Tuesday he pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in connection to the hush money case. Following his indictment, Trump fundraised $4 million within 24 hours.

However, Barr, who served as Trump’s attorney general from 2019 to 2020, argued that the Manhattan case is not a significant legal case brought forth against Trump. He argued that the most significant legal case that Trump might have to face relates to the federal investigation into his handling of classified documents.

In regards to Bragg’s case, Barr called it “unjust,” and “an abuse of prosecutorial power” saying that this case might be successful in getting “into the middle of the Republican primary process and turn it into a circus.”
