(FixThisNation.com) – The Trump campaign filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), accusing Vice President Harris’s campaign of having improperly taken over the campaign funds of the Biden campaign after President Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he would be dropping out of the presidential race. The Biden campaign has switched its name to “Harris for President” which Trump campaign counsel David Warrington argued is a “money grab” and a violation of campaign finance laws, involving $91.5 million.

The complaint is trying to stop Harris from having access to those funds, and it is argued that a criminal investigation should be conducted. In the complaint, there is also the argument that Biden should return these funds. However, the majority of campaign finance experts have argued that Harris, as Biden’s former running mate, actually has access to the funds. The FEC will be called to make a final decision on this.

Harris’s campaign broke fundraising records as it raised more than $80 million within 24 hours of being launched. Republican FEC Chair Sean Cooksey indicated potential opposition to Harris’s access, noting the complexity of transferring an entire campaign’s assets to another candidate.

However, there have been others who have supported Harris’s access to the funds including Democratic Commissioner Dara Lindenbaum, and Steve Roberts the former general counsel to Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. This is because as they point out the Biden-Harris campaign has operated as a shared committee.

Harris campaign spokesperson Charles Lutvak dismissed the concerns, pointing out that the Harris campaign has had a lot of success with fundraising.
