(FixThisNation.com) – Following Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin’s failure to disclose his hospitalization on New Year, a White House official confirmed that President Biden was not considering dismissing Austin.

On Friday, the Pentagon in a report announced that Austin had been hospitalized on Monday after experiencing complications following a recent surgery. However, President Biden was not informed of the Defense Secretary’s absence until Thursday afternoon as the Department had decided to keep the situation secret. This decision led to many concerns over whether or not the government was transparent.

John Kirby, the national security spokesperson stated that currently there are no other plans for Austin other than for him to continue performing his duties as he had previously done. When asked specifically about whether Biden would potentially dismiss Austin, Kirby stated that the President respected Austin’s decision to take ownership of this decision. He added that Biden is anticipating Austin’s return to his role.

Kirby further disclosed that Biden had talked with Austin a few days earlier. Kirby added that on the morning of Jan. 1, National Security adviser Jake Sullivan, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Austin had a secure conference call with the President to discuss the operations in the Middle East.

Kirby further pointed out that there was “an expectation” that when a Cabinet member was hospitalized those in the chain of command would be notified.

Former President Donald Trump pushed Austin to be fired for his “improper” conduct.

On Saturday, the Associated Press noted that despite the recent scandal, Biden remained confident in Austin’s abilities.
