(FixThisNation.com) – On Friday the California State Assembly passed a bill that would mandate that judges considering child custody cases would need to take into account if the parent has affirmed that a child believes they are transgender.
AB 957 in its original form required that a judge in a custody case would need to consider whether each of the child’s parents were affirming the child’s belief regarding their gender. In June a new amendment was included that set forward the state’s standards on parental responsibility. As part of the new requirement parents will be obliged to affirm the child’s gender identity if they are judged fit to have the child under their care.
Many users took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to blast the bill that could potentially threaten whether a parent could get custody of their child only on the basis of whether or not they acknowledged and supported their child’s transgender identity.
Elon Musk, Tesla founder and owner of X, noted that the bill means that any parent who disagrees with the other parent about “sterilizing” their child would lose custody. He added that this was “utter madness!”
Chloe Cole, a gender de-transitioner who had first started transition treatments at the age of 13 and has since frequently testified about the dangers of these procedures for minors also opposed the bill. As she noted the rule is pushing for a “wildly unpopular” stance and that the California Governor continued to push forward radical policies.
Mary Margaret Olohan, the Daily Signal senior reporter, also noted that it was time for families to leave California.
