(FixThisNation.com) – A former senior adviser and longtime confidant to Hillary Clinton seemed shocked by recent polling that showed former President Donald Trump taking the lead against President Joe Biden in critical swing states.
Speaking to Martha MacCallum on Fox News’ “The Story,” Philippe Reines explained he didn’t “know what’s going on here” — a reference to a recent New York Times/Siena College/Philadelphia poll.
The poll shows Trump leading Biden in five of the six battleground states, where Biden narrowly beat Trump four years ago.
Reines acknowledged that if the general election was held tomorrow, Trump would beat Biden but expressed hope that given that the elections were still “176 days away” from Monday when he conducted the interview, Biden could make up the lost ground.
Reines explained that Biden and his campaign weren’t in a “bubble thinking things are great” and that they were acknowledging they had “problems” and in which areas those issues exist.
Monday’s survey details that there is rising discontent among voters because of the ongoing Israeli-Hamas war and the economy.
The survey also suggests Biden is losing support among younger voters, Hispanic and Black voters, which could “unravel” the President’s successes.
In Arizona and Michigan, Trump surpassed Biden with 7 percentage points, getting 49 percent support to Biden’s 42 percent.
In Georgia and Nevada Trump has a double-digit lead over the incumbent President.
In Nevada, Trump leads Biden by 12 percentage points, achieving 50 percent to 38 percent. In Georgia, Trump leads with 10 percentage points, getting 49 percent to 39 percent.
In Pennsylvania, Trump has the smallest lead, getting 47 percent support to Biden’s 44 percent.
Only in Wisconsin does Biden beat Trump, getting 47 percent support to Trump’s 45 percent.
