(FixThisNation.com) – On Friday, Governor DeSantis stated that he would announce his decision on whether he will join the 2024 presidential race “relatively soon.”

During a news conference that marked the end of Florida’s legislative session, DeSantis started by stating that he was certain in last year’s midterm elections that they were going to do well, and that they had the opportunity to do some incredible things in Florida. He added that he had always stated that he would see things to the end and that in regard to the future and what he will do then, he was going to make an announcement “relatively soon.”

He continued by claiming that should there be an announcement it was going to “come at the appropriate time” and that anyone claiming to know one thing or another, they are wrong as currently there has not been a decision.

Last month, reports suggested that DeSantis, who is widely expected to place a bid on the White House, was preparing to launch a campaign in May or June. However, DeSantis himself had previously claimed that these reports were “inaccurate.”

Many other Republicans, have sought to challenge former President Donald Trump for the 2024 GOP nomination, including former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, conservative entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, however, it is DeSantis who is the only other GOP possible candidate to have support in the double digits. According to most polls, DeSantis is in second place for the GOP nomination, with an average of 29 points between him and Trump according to FiveThirtyEight polling average.
