(FixThisNation.com) – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis stated that if he wins the presidential election in 2024, he is going to welcome a measure from Congress that would aim to defund the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

DeSantis, who announced this week his presidential campaign for 2024, came during an appearance on The Dana Show, where he talked with radio host and Second Amendment advocate Dana Loesch. In the interview, DeSantis was asked about whether he would sign a Congress measure that would look to abolish the IRS by not providing funding and was subsequently asked what system should replace the IRS. Loesch also asked DeSantis whether he was a “fair tax” or a “flat tax” supporter.

DeSantis responded by stating that he believed the IRS is corrupt and that it is not there to assist the average citizen. He proceeded to argue that it was time for something completely different, and he claimed that he has supported “all of the single rate proposals” which he believes are a great improvement to the existing system and is “more favorable to the average folks.”

Last August, following the Biden administration’s decision to expand the IRs with 87,000 more agents, DeSantis proceeded to attack the IRS for their practices and for trying to attack the American middle class. DeSantis added at the time that out of everything that Washington had done this comes close to being the most “outrageous.” He proceeded to argue that Washington was going after the middle class.
