(FixThisNation.com) – On Friday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis blasted former President Donald Trump claiming that his habit of issuing insults against his political opponents was “phony” and “juvenile.”
During the WMUR’s “Conversation with the Candidate” event, the 2024 Republican presidential candidate argued that the insults Trump issued were “juvenile” and not a reflection of how the U.S. President should be acting.
He further argued that while he enjoyed debates he was not going to be attacking others on the basis of their appearance, and that this is the type of thing you teach your children not to do. Over the past few months, DeSantis has had to face many of Trump’s attacks and insults. Trump also frequently refers to the Florida governor by the nickname “Ron DeSanctimonious.”
Previously during an interview with Piers Morgan, DeSantis had claimed to like the nickname that Trump had given him. He added that while he did not know what it meant or how to spell it he liked that it was long and had many vowels.
Earlier this week he also claimed that the insults that Trump has often issued about him being a “lousy” candidate with “no personality” have actually been helpful for his campaign.
He added that voters did not like “juvenile insults” and that they were ineffective in harming him. Instead, he argued that they were helpful to him as most voters realize the ineffectiveness of these insults.
According to most Republican primary polls, Trump is leading the race while DeSantis is coming in second place. The two candidates have a double-digit margin between them.
