(FixThisNation.com) – On Tuesday, NBC News reported that DHS didn’t know the whereabouts of roughly 50 illegal immigrants who were part of more than 400 illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. by a smuggling network affiliated with ISIS.

According to U.S. officials cited in the report, the 400 immigrants were released into the United States, as per a Biden administration border policy, since their names were not on a terrorist watchlist.

Of the 400 immigrants who entered the country, more than 150 have been arrested, including some who’ve been deported. The DHS knows the whereabouts of 200 others, with the remaining 50 being unaccounted for.

The report states Immigration and Customs Enforcement are actively searching for unaccounted-for illegal immigrants.

Concerns have been raised given that an unknown number of the 400 immigrants could be linked to ISIS or its offshoot, ISIS-K.

Christopher O’Leary, former FBI counterterrorism section chief, highlighted that the migrants’ location being “unknown is clearly alarming,” adding he believed ICE is “scrambling to locate these individuals.”

ICE, who charged 150 of the immigrants with immigrant violations, plans to do so with the remaining 50 should they locate them, something O’Leary noted was a “good approach” to take them off the street.

Tuesday’s report comes two weeks after it was revealed eight immigrants from Tajikistan suspected to have ties to ISIS had been arrested in Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia.

Rep. Mark Green (R-Tenn.), chairman of the GOP-led Homeland Security Committee, also sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security, demanding an unredacted version of the June 7 report by the DHS Office of Inspector General that found the DHS had inadequately vetted and screened asylum seekers.
