(FixThisNation.com) – On Monday, former President Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social to say that special counsel Jack Smith had the “judge of his dreams” presiding over the case regarding Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and his role in the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol attack.
The case has been assigned to Tanya Chutkan, the U.S. District Judge for the District of Columbia. Trump has frequently stated that Washington, D.C., was not the right place for the trial as he would not get a fair trial in the state. Chutkan has also been the target of his attacks since his indictment.
As he stated during his latest post Smith was going to appear in court before his dream judge in a trial that was focused on violating Trump’s First Amendment rights. He proceeded to argue that the Department of Justice had been deliberately illegally leaking information regarding his cases to the “Fake News Media.”
Trump, who is the frontrunner in the 2024 Republican presidential race, has frequently posted messages against Chutkan, who is a Barack Obama appointee. The assignment of Trump’s case to Chutkan was random. In Trump’s other federal indictment in Florida the selected judge is a Trump appointee.
The indictment included four criminal counts that are connected to Trump’s attempts to remain in office after losing the 2020 presidential election. Last Thursday during his arraignment he pleaded not guilty in all the cases.
Chutkan had been unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate for her appointment and has since then risen to the forefront for handing down tough sentences in cases connected to the Jan. 6, Capitol attack.
