(FixThisNation.com) – Multiple reports have noted that former President Donald Trump is planning to deliver his closing argument in the New York civil fraud trial case this week.
Trump, his two adult sons, and many top executives of the Trump Organization, as well as the organization itself, are facing a lawsuit brought forward by New York Attorney General Letitia James (D). The lawsuit accuses them of having falsely inflated the value of various assets in order to receive better business deals from banks and insurance companies while deflating them for taxation purposes.
Trump is planning to issue a final summation on Thursday ahead of the trial coming to an end. The final decision in this case is going to fall on Judge Arthur Engoron who is overseeing the trial.
The former President has continuously claimed that the civil case against him is politically motivated. Engoron, James, and members of the court have all faced criticisms from Trump since the case was brought forward in 2022.
Usually, Trump would not deliver a closing statement himself, as his legal team would be handling those arguments. This is Trump’s last chance to prove to Engoron that he is innocent. Throughout the trial, Trump and Engoron often faced conflicts, with Engoron imposing a gag order blocking both Trump and his legal team from making any comments about his principal law clerk and other court staff.
Before the trial started Engoron had found that Trump and his co-defendants were liable for fraud.
