(FixThisNation.com) – On Tuesday, a group of major labor unions sent a letter to President Biden calling for him to put an end to the military aid being provided to Israel, as the country continues with its war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
In the letter, they note that they believe that in order to achieve a peaceful resolution to this war the United States needs to stop providing Israel with military aid. The letter was signed by the American Postal Workers Union (APWU), United Electrical Workers (UE), Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT), the United Auto Workers (UAW), the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) and the National Education Association (NEA).
APWU President Mark Dimondstein noted in a press release that the unions were listening to how humanity cries about the continuation of this “vicious war.” He continued by arguing that both unions and working people were horrified by the way that their tax dollars were being used to fund this tragedy and they wanted to see a ceasefire in the war. He noted that the best way to achieve that is by shutting off US military aid to Israel.
This week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to start a visit to Washington, which will include a speech in a Congressional joint session on Wednesday. During his visit, he is also set to have a meeting with both former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.
Many leading Congressional Democrats have been pushing for Netanyahu to resign because of his handling of the war in Gaza.
