(FixThisNation.com) – Following the decision made by interim House Speaker Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., to evict leading Democrats, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., from their Capitol offices, many liberals took to social media to slam the move.
Many users on X, formerly known as Twitter, called McHenry’s move “petty” and one even went as far as to say it was a “d— move.”
Following the historic vote on Tuesday which led to Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., being removed from his office, McHenry took over as Speaker pro tempore. The vote was the result of a motion to vacate filed by Rep. Matt Gaetz, D-Fla.
Pelosi reportedly received an email calling for her to vacate her private office in the Capitol on Tuesday. In it, McHenry informed Pelosi that the private office she had previously been using was being reassigned for “speaker office use.” He specifically called for the seat to be vacated by tomorrow so that the room could be re-keyed.
A spokesperson for the lawmaker confirmed that her items were being moved on that same day with the assistance of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries,’ D-N.Y., staff.
Pelosi also issued a statement responding to her eviction stating that out of everything important that the new Republican leadership needed to handle she did not expect that his first order was going to relate to her vacating her Capitol office.
She added that she was not in Washington to retrieve her belongings at the time as she was in California to pay tribute to the late Senator Dianne Feinstein who recently passed away.
Many liberal X users posted in support of the former Speaker pointing out that this move was “mean.
Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., blasted McHenry for the decision stating that Republicans were not only incompetent but also classless and petty. He added that Pelosi was at the funeral of Feinstein at the time of receiving the notice to vacate her office.
