(FixThisNation.com) – Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) has slammed Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) over his decision to attend the New York hush money trial on Tuesday in support of former President Donald Trump.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Cheney argued that she had been surprised that Johnson was looking to become part of the “‘I cheated on my wife with a porn star’ club.” She continued by claiming that the Speaker did not appear to be concerned with teaching younger people any morality.
Johnson was not the only GOP lawmaker to have joined Trump at the Manhattan courthouse where the judicial proceedings in Trump’s criminal cases are taking place. Trump is being accused of having falsified business records in an attempt to hide the hush money payment he had made to adult film star Stormy Daniels. Trump has denied the alleged affair with Daniels and has maintained that he is innocent in this case.
In a statement, the Speaker’s office confirmed that he had attended the hush money trial which he referred to as a “sham.” He had also slammed Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg who had brought forward the charges against Trump after leading the related probe.
Johnson’s appearance at the courthouse showcases that despite the legal troubles faced by the former President and the details relating to Trump’s relationship with Daniels, the House GOP would continue to support him ahead of the November election.
Cheney who is a vocal opponent of the former President was driven out of office after she criticized Trump for the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021.
