(FixThisNation.com) – A recent report in the Washington Post states that the National Archives is considering asking all living former presidents and Vice Presidents to conduct searches into their records to ensure that no other classified records are going to be found. Following the revelation that former President Trump, President Joe Biden, and former Vice President Mike Pence all had classified documents in their possession, many have been speculating about the extent to which other officials may have classified documents in their possession.
The classified documents situation first started in August when the FBI raided former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home. From the raid, they recovered hundreds of documents with classified markings. More recently in November, President Biden’s lawyers were packing his former office in Washington, D.C., when they discovered classified documents on the premises. Upon extending their search radius several batches of classified documents were also found in Biden’s Delaware home. Finally last week it was revealed that following Biden’s example, former vice President Mike Pence decided to have an investigation to ensure that no classified documents were in his possession. The search led to the discovery of several documents which are currently with the FBI.
Following the discovery of Pence’s classified documents, both the offices of former Presidents Obama and Clinton have reaffirmed that all of the classified documents had been handed over to the National Archives.
Biden and Trump are both facing a Department of Justice investigation over the discovery of the documents. Attorney General Merrick Garland also appointed special counsels to be in charge of overseeing each of these cases.
