(FixThisNation.com) – The Biden administration had been reportedly aware that a large number of migrants were intending to enter through the Southern border in recent months and had not taken any actions to mitigate the situation.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) internal documents indicated that the Mexican immigration authorities had had an increase in the apprehensions at the border since May. This was perceived as an indication that the situation at the border was escalating. Despite this, the DHS did not take any action to deal with the influx.
On Friday the U.S. Customs and Border Protection released new statistics for August which showed that a record-breaking 232,972 migrants had been encountered along the border. This is the highest record for August today, and it was the record number for this calendar year thus far.
Internal documents further noted that federal agencies had information about the buildup of migrants on the Mexican side of the border at the start of August.
Both Republicans and Democrats have been upset about the lack of action by President Joe Biden to police the border. Many Democrat cities including Chicago and New York have also felt the effects of the immigration crisis and have slammed Biden for his lack of action. Lawmakers in those areas have had to stretch resources in order to be able to cover the shelter and social services that migrants require.
Border towns such as El Paso have also reached a “breaking point.” While Democrat Mayor Rolando Salinas declared a state of emergency for Eagle Pass.
