(FixThisNation.com) – GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley stated that it was “wasted energy” to focus on the legal troubles of former President Donald Trump and argued that it was up to the courts to make any judgments.

During an interview on ABC News’s “This Week” Haley was asked whether or not Trump should be granted immunity from criminal prosecution. As she said the court would be looking into whether a person should be given immunity even when they were not the president anymore. She added that they would look to determine when immunity ended.

Haley proceeded to argue that she would let the judges make that decision and that she personally did not know where the line was. She also pointed out that it was up to Trump to defend himself in these cases and that if he is found to be guilty then “he’s found guilty.” She added that it would be “wasted energy” for her to try and focus on the legal cases rather than place all her attention on winning the room that they had “just left.”

Despite Trump’s four indictments this year, he has continued to have a strong lead in the Republican presidential race. Trump has not only maintained his innocence and has pleaded not guilty to all of the cases, but he has also argued that he is protected from the cases relating to Jan. 6, 2021, as he had presidential immunity at the time.

Special counsel Jack Smith put a special request through to the Supreme Court last week asking them to weigh in on whether or not Trump should be granted immunity for that time period.
