(FixThisNation.com) – On Sunday Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s campaign claimed in a memo that she was the “only viable” alternative to former President Donald Trump in the Republican race. This statement was made while the former President had managed to maintain a wide lead in the Republican presidential primary race.
On Sunday, Betsy Ankney, the campaign manager for Haley, wrote that the former Gov. of South Carolina was the “only candidate” who was going to perform well in the key early voting states, and more specifically in the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary.
The memo also referenced last week’s Des Moines Register poll in which it was shown that Trump continues to have an impressive lead in Iowa. In the poll, it was also shown that Haley was tied with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for second place. This is particularly impressive as since August Haley has managed to gain 10 points while DeSantis has dropped three.
The memo referred to the Florida Governor’s campaign as a “sinking ship” and argued that in contrast, Haley was rising up. It was further noted that even if DeSantis managed to perform well in Iowa, which was unlikely given his recent decline, he was still in a very weak position in both South Carolina and New Hampshire, as such even if he was temporarily successful that success would not take him anywhere.
It was further pointed out in the memo that Haley has a really strong standing in both South Carolina and New Hampshire.
