(FixThisNation.com) – In a recent appearance in a Pod Save America podcast, former President Obama (D) argued that there was no one whose “hands are clean” in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
A clip from the episode was posted on X, formerly known as Twitter on Saturday. As he argued in the clip for anyone who wanted to find a solution to the problem the first thing that they needed to do was examine the whole truth. He added that it was necessary to admit that everyone’s hands are dirty in this situation at least to “some degree.” He further noted that when he looks at this situation, he starts to think about what things he should have addressed differently during his presidency in order to move the situation forward.
While Obama has publicly condemned Hamas over the Oct. 7 surprise attack, he has also stated that the occupation and the things that innocent Palestinian civilians had to live through are “unbearable.”
On Friday, during a “Democracy Forum” at the Obama Foundation, the former President also remarked regarding the conflict that this was a “moral reckoning” for everyone. As he stated this war is happening after decades of failing to reach a “durable peace” between Palestine and Israel. He then pointed out that any deal reached would need to be based on the recognition that Israel has the right to exist and be secure and that in order for that peace to be achieved there needs to be an end to the occupation and the establishment of a viable Palestinian state.
