(FixThisNation.com) – Twenty-four Democratic representatives led by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have given President Joe Biden a new list of demands concerning the Israel-Hamas war following the viewing of footage from the October 7 surprise attack by Hamas.

In the letter, the representatives are pushing for Biden to call for a “bilateral ceasefire” and have noted that they are concerned about the “violations against children.” The letter comes after 100 Congress members, including Ocasio-Cortez, watched a 45-minute video of the Hamas attack on Israel. The House Foreign Affairs Committee had organized the viewing.

According to the Jewish insider, the viewing had caused distress to many of the lawmakers and several even had tears in their eyes. After the viewing, a photo emerged of Ocasio-Cortez consoling one of her colleagues.

In the letter sent to the President, the group writes about their concerns about the “intensifying war in Gaza” and states that without a bilateral ceasefire, this war would just result in additional civilian lives getting lost, and the United States would be dragged into the Middle Eastern conflict.

Democrats in Congress are divided over the calls for a ceasefire in the region, which is primarily pushed by progressives. Progressives have pointed out that a ceasefire would help avoid any further civilian loss and have expressed concerns about the high number of Palestinian civilians that have lost their lives as a result of the Israeli airstrikes. The Associated Press has reported that in Gaza at least 11,000 people have lost their lives, while the Hamas attack on Israel resulted in over 1,200 people in Israel losing their lives.
