(FixThisNation.com) – Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Democrat) in a recent interview on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki” pointed out the severity of charges filed against former President Donald Trump in his federal indictment. She further argued that should Trump be found guilty then it is possible that he seriously risked the country’s national security.
As she pointed out, the things that Trump allegedly did with the classified documents, could have repercussions in the international intelligence community. She added that while Trump is “innocent until proven guilty,” what Trump is alleged to have done and appears to “have confessed to” could have “seriously jeopardized” the country’s national security. She further argued that Trump’s behavior is dishonoring the legal system.
Earlier this month Trump was federally indicted on 37 federal criminal charges in connection to his alleged mishandling of classified documents and obstruction of a federal investigation. The charges that were filed against him include willful retention of national security information and 31 counts which are connected to violations of the Espionage Act. He is also accused of having taken extraordinary steps to retain certain sensitive documents and block his lawyers and federal officials from getting access to those.
Pelosi pointed out that from her three decades experience in dealing with intelligence material, she knew that some of the material that Trump is accused of having held on to could only be reviewed in an ultra-secure Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). She argued that those documents in particular are extremely important to protect.
