(FixThisNation.com) – In April, Timothy Mellon donated $5 million to support the presidential campaign of independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The banker’s donation was made to a super PAC that is supporting Kennedy Jr.’s campaign and was made known on Monday when the monthly filing was released.

Mellon has previously been an important donor and backer of former President Donald Trump, who is the presumptive 2024 Republican candidate. The donation to American Values 2024, which supports Kennedy, came after previous donations by Mellon to the super PAC for at least $20 million.

In April American Values 2024 ended the month with $20.85 million cash on hand, this is after Kennedy spent funds on expenses and being included on state ballots.

Mellon, who is a member of the Mellon banking family, has previously provided support to MAGA, the super PAC supporting former President Trump. According to the filings, since 2022 had donated $16.5 million to Trump’s campaign. In the 2020 presidential election, Mellon had donated at least $20 million to America First Action Inc. a different super PAC supporting Trump’s efforts.

In a three-way matchup, the latest Reuters/ Ipsos poll has found that around 13 percent of the vote would be going to Kennedy while it was harder to determine in the poll who would be the winner.

Mellon has contributed to the super PAC of Kennedy Jr., which is in a position to receive an unlimited size of funds but cannot directly coordinate with the campaign. Kennedy has maintained that his presidential campaign has a chance of being successful despite the criticisms.
