( – Former President Donald Trump has recently given his support for two Democrats in New York who were sued under the now-expired law that led to a suit for sexual misconduct being filed against him.

The Adult Survivors Act in New York, provided sexual assault survivors one year in which they could file lawsuits against their abusers, despite the fact that the misconduct had occurred decades ago and the statute of limitations may have expired. As a result of the law, which expired last week, there were over 3,700 legal claims filed.

Sexual assault accusations were filed against New York City Mayor Eric Adams who had a former employee allege that there had been a case of sexual assault in 1993, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo who allegedly had harassed one of his former aides while still in office. Both men have denied these allegations.

On Wednesday, Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to argue that the law which allowed for cases to be filed despite the statute of limitations having expired was “ridiculous” and “unconstitutional.” He also pushed for the two Democrats to fight back against these claims.

In his post, he said that he was hoping that everyone who had been sued because of this law, including Cuomo and Adams, would fight back. He added that it was ridiculous that people were allowed to file a lawsuit years later without being able to provide any evidence, and argued that the law was both “unconstitutional” and “unfair.”

Trump also pointed out that on the day that the law had been enacted a year earlier, he had a legal case filed against him by writer E. Jean Carroll. One of the two cases brought forward by Carroll went to trial earlier this year. During the trial, Carroll alleged that in 1996 Trump had raped her in the dressing room of a New York City Bergdorf Goodman dressing room. She added that Trump had denied the incident and had ruined her reputation in the process.
