(FixThisNation.com) – Former President Trump recently voiced his strong opposition to special counsel Jack Smith once again in his Christmas Eve messages on his Truth Social platform. In these posts, Trump asserted his belief that he is entitled to complete presidential immunity in the face of the charges brought against him in the federal election interference case by Smith. He also repeated his unsubstantiated claim that Smith is merely carrying out President Biden’s wishes in prosecuting him.

Trump didn’t stop there; he went on to suggest that Biden himself would be subject to prosecution without any presidential immunity. He cited Biden’s handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 and his management of the U.S. southern border as areas where potential legal scrutiny could arise.

In another social media post, Trump went further, describing Smith as one of Biden’s “misfits and thugs” who are pursuing him with an unprecedented level of persecution. Alluding to election interference, Trump added a wry “Merry Christmas!” to his message.

Trump currently faces over 90 felony counts spread across four separate criminal trials. These charges encompass a range of alleged actions, including his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results and his handling of classified and sensitive documents. Throughout, Trump maintains his innocence, attributing the charges to political motivations, asserting his position as the frontrunner for the 2024 GOP nomination.

Trump’s legal team has argued vehemently for his complete immunity from prosecution, citing that the actions mentioned in the indictment occurred during his tenure in office. Judge Tanya Chutkan, overseeing the case, rejected this argument, prompting Trump to appeal to the District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals.

Smith, on the other hand, has sought Supreme Court intervention to expedite the trial, bypassing the appeals court. However, the Supreme Court has yet to make a ruling on this matter, leaving the appeals court to schedule a hearing for the coming month.

Throughout this legal battle, Trump has consistently claimed that the charges against him are politically motivated, alleging that Smith is merely acting on Biden’s behalf. Both Biden and Smith have repeatedly stressed the independence of the Justice Department, insisting that it operates without political influence.
