(FixThisNation.com) – Former President Donald Trump in a recent interview with Time Magazine promised that if he is elected in November he would lead the “largest mass deportation effort” in U.S. history.

Following the interview, Time Magazine revealed that Trump was planning on using the National Guard in order to deal with such a large-scale operation that would require the National Guard to gather and remove the undocumented migrants from around the U.S. He added that if they were not able to fulfill these operations then he would employ other parts of the military. The reporter had then asked Trump whether he would be overriding the 1878 Posse Comitatus Act which prohibits the usage of the military on civilians, but Trump did not appear to be fazed by the statute.

The New York Post previously reported that the Trump campaign had not detailed the type of resources that would be deployed in order for them to deport close to “20 million” illegal migrants, which is the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials estimation for the number of illegal migrants in the country. Officials have also informed the Post that such an operation would need the involvement of the State Department as well as Congressional funding.

NumbersUSA director of research Eric Ruark previously told the post that the estimates given by the Trump campaign of 20 million illegals in the country might not be too far off. Rurek pointed out that just based on the number of people they have seen making their way into the country the estimate of 15 to 20 million appears accurate. He further pointed out that the U.S. Census Bureau has given the estimate of 11 million.
