(FixThisNation.com) – Former VP Pence has filed to join the presidential race in 2024. The GOP’s primary race is an ever-growing field and with this latest addition, the country’s most recent Republican vice president and president are going to face each other for the Republican nomination.
For months Pence has hinted at joining the race, however in order to successfully win he is going to need to surpass former President Donald Trump who is currently the frontrunner in the GOP primary race, by convincing voters that he is the best man for the job. Trump’s and Pence’s relationship fell apart after the presidential election in 2020.
The former VP is expected to launch his presidential campaign on Wednesday with an event in Iowa. Following the event, he is also going to be participating in a CNN town hall in Des Moines.
Pence, who had previously served as the governor of Indiana and a congressman and is particularly known for his conservative track record which his team is expecting will connect with voters. Committed to America is the super PAC launched in mid-May which is supporting his presidential nomination. The PAC is co-chaired by former Representative Hensarling (Republican-TX.) and veteran GOP consultant Scott Reed, and their executive director is Bobby Saparow, who had previously managed Governor of Georgia Brian Kemp’s (Republican) re-election campaign.
In terms of his polling position, Pence is usually in third place right after Trump and Florida Governor DeSantis, however, he has occasionally been behind Nikki Haley, the former Ambassador who was one of the first people to join the presidential race.
