(FixThisNation.com) – On Tuesday former President Donald Trump’s ex-attorney and fixer Michael Cohen had to handle an intense cross-examination during the hush money trial. Trump had the support of several of his Republican allies in the courtroom.
Trump who is hoping to win back the White House in 2024 was joined on Tuesday by several of his GOP allies including House Speaker Mike Johnson and other politicians that are hoping they will make it to Trump’s vice presidential shortlist. Outside the courtroom, Trump delivered remarks to the press once again arguing that the justice system was being “weaponized” against the former President.
Cohen, who had been Trump’s attorney for years, had previously claimed that he had once been “knee-deep into” the Trump cult. He is now the star witness for the prosecution as he is the one who had made the hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels on Trump’s behalf. Trump is facing accusations that he had falsified business records when he reimbursed Cohen for the $130,000 hush money payment. Trump has denied the allegations that he had an affair with Daniels and has retained that he committed no wrongdoings.
Prosecutors specifically asked Cohen whether he had received 11 checks in exchange for the 11 false invoices that he had to submit to get reimbursed for the payment. In response, Cohen said that he had received the checks that were predominantly signed by Trump.
Cohen argued that he had made the payments in order to keep the story quiet and make sure that it would not have an effect on Trump’s attempts to win the White House in 2016.
