(FixThisNation.com) – The Decision Desk HQ had projected that former President Donald Trump would have no trouble winning the first Republican primary contest of the year in Iowa.
Trump went into the Iowa caucuses with a big lead in polling averages and throughout his campaign he appeared to be winning more support from the evangelical Iowans.
Last month, Trump had told Iowans that they would be winning the Iowa caucuses and that next November they would win the election against Biden. Last week, Fox News broadcasted that clip of Trump right before a town hall with the former President which coincided with the debate between Republican presidential candidates Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley which was aired on CNN.
The race for Trump was called by Decision Desk HQ before 9 p.m. however at that time it was still unclear who would become the second-place winner. DeSantis had invested a lot in Iowa and had won the endorsement of Gov. Kim Reynolds (R). However, his loss in the caucus is likely to cause trouble for him as he seeks to move forward in the race.
Make America Great Again Inc. communications director Alex Pfeiffer argued that Iowans had sent a clear message that the 2024 Republican nominee was going to be Donald Trump. He added that now was the time to make him the next U.S. president.
The candidates have now turned their attention to New Hampshire which is set to hold the first-in-the-nation primary on Jan. 23.
