(FixThisNation.com) – The United States Navy has put out a video in which a navy ship from China can be seen performing an “unsafe” maneuver as it sharply cuts the part taken by one of America’s warships in the Strait of Taiwan.

The short video was taken on Saturday aboard the USS Chung-Hoon by a U.S. Navy Sailor. According to a statement by the Indo-Pacific command the USS Chung-Hoon had kept to its course but was forced to slow to 10 knots in order to avoid an accident with the Chinese naval ship which overtook it on its port side, leaving only around 150 yards between the ships.

According to United States officials, this is the 2nd time that such an incident has occurred between a Chinese naval ship and the USS Chung-Hoon a 2nd time. The U.S. 7th Fleet revealed that the American ship is an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer and had been performing a routine transit in the Taiwan Strait which is currently considered to be international waters.  The routine transit together with a Canadian ship, Montreal’s transit is meant to exhibit the committed efforts of the two North American countries to a “ free and open Indo-Pacific.”

However, Taiwan has maintained that Taiwan is historically a part of mainland China and has in the past been aggressive in the way it has handled the United States warship’s presence in the Taiwan Strait.

Only days before this encounter at sea, a Chinese jet had flown in front of a U.S. spy plane that was flying over an international fly zone.
