(FixThisNation.com) – During an interview with BET, President Joe Biden appeared to have forgotten the name of his Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin. During the interview, Biden had referred to Austin as a “Black man.”
Many journalists and commentators took to social media to slam Biden for forgetting the name of the Defense Secretary and just referring to him as a “Black man” during the interview. However, others have claimed that the incident might have been misconstrued.
Following last month’s poor debate performance, Biden had participated in a number of social media appearances in an attempt to deal with the concerns regarding his reelection campaign. Many Democrats have also been pushing for Biden to drop out of the presidential race as they question whether he would be able to serve for another four years in office.
During the interview with Black Entertainment Television (BET), Biden argued that it was all about treating others with “dignity.” He proceeded to point out that he had named a “Black man” as the Defense secretary.
He continued by stating that he had appointed the first Black woman to the Supreme Court, Ketanji Brown Jackson. It is not yet clear whether Biden in his comments had indeed forgotten Austin’s name or if he was simply making reference to all the administration members he had appointed that are Black.
In March, in a different incident, Biden had appeared to forget Austin’s name and had just referred to him as “the guy who runs that outfit over there.”
