(FixThisNation.com) – On Monday, President Joe Biden rejected the push from Democratic lawmakers in which they called for him to step down from the presidential race, arguing that making such a move would be dismissing his record in office and the preference of voters.
The letter was shared by the Biden campaign and noted that the Democratic Party had been engulfed by drama following the first presidential debate in late June during which Biden had performed badly causing many to question his health and ability to run for office. However, the Biden campaign argued that lawmakers needed to unite in support of the President.
Biden in the letter wrote that for over a week there had been a lot of questions about how they would move forward, but that it was time for them to put an end to these questions. He added that any lack of clarity was only going to benefit former President Donald Trump while harming the Democratic party, which is why it is time for unity.
In recent days, there has been an increase in the number of Democrats who have been pushing for Biden to step down from the presidential race in 2024 as there has been an increase in those concerned that he lacks the ability to beat former President Donald Trump in November.
Biden claimed that he has heard all of the concerns expressed by people and that he is not blind to their fears or to what is at stake in the upcoming election. However, he added that he would not be running for office again if he did not believe that he is the best possible person to defeat Trump in 2024.
