(FixThisNation.com) – Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., has vowed to force a vote for the arrest of Attorney General Merrick Garland if the Justice Department continues to not act on the House Republican-led criminal contempt resolution.
On Tuesday, Luna told Fox News Digital that she was intending to force a vote on the “inherent contempt” resolution against the attorney general after the House of Representatives deal with a different measure that could also affect the fate of Garland. As she revealed currently, they fully intended to bring it. She added that she did not have a lot of faith in the Department of Justice, and she did not believe that most Americans did either. However, she still pointed out that there needs to be accountability for everyone including those on top.
Luna continued by pointing out that if the Department of Justice failed to do their job, then they would just need to take action for them.
Inherent contempt is significantly different from the contempt resolution that the House is expected to hold a vote on Wednesday afternoon. While the latter is a reference to the criminal charges of Garland’s department, inherent contempt when passed is going to direct the House sergeant at arms to move forward with arresting the Attorney General.
On Wednesday, Luna circulated a letter in which she explained what inherent contempt is and the reasons why it is important. She added that the last time it had been used was in the early 1900s but before that, it had been a fairly common practice.
