(FixThisNation.com) – On Tuesday, Ryan Walters, the Superintendent in Oklahoma state announced that a conservative activist committee had been asked to rewrite the social studies Oklahoma state standards.
In the letter, Walters noted that the new social studies standards would aim to ensure that they are chronologically correct and would be reiterated throughout the primary and secondary education of a student, which will empower schools to teach from primary sources. As he argued this is going to inspire a love for the United States in students who will be capable of properly understanding the founding of the country. As he argued it would also eliminate the DEI indoctrination while the state would go back to teaching the basics.
Walters had previously argued that there were parts of the Bible that needed to be taught in U.S. schools. In the memo, he emphasized that the religious book would just act as an instructional resource.
The conservative activists in the committee include the Heritage Foundation head Kevin Roberts, who had led Project 2025, which provides a roadmap for a possible second Trump administration. PragerU founder Dennis Prager is also a part of the committee. His education group is normally focused on the teaching of conservative principles.
Walters expressed excitement over bringing on some of the brightest minds to help with the committee and draft the new academic standards. As he pointed out these standards will serve as a model for Oklahoma students for years.
The Oklahoma House Democrats have slammed the committee members arguing that they are “extremists.”
