(FixThisNation.com) – Following last week’s assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) has been pushing to defund the Secret Service as a lot of questions have emerged about the agency’s ability to keep elected officials safe.
On Friday, Roy had joined Fox News’s Laura Ingraham after attending the funeral of firefighter Corey Comperatore who had been killed during the Trump rally shooting in Pennsylvania. During his appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” he pointed out that currently, Trump is not alive because of any actions taken by the Secret Service but rather because he had just slightly turned his head. He added that this was the truth of the matter and that Americans were tired of this situation.
Roy also slammed members of the Biden administration arguing that the U.S. public is “sick” of seeing agency leaders being allowed to continue in their positions even after events like the messy 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan or the assassination attempt on the former President’s life. He added that they are “sick” of the FBI, the intel community, and all those who get to keep their jobs while endangering the former president and Republican nominee.
Last Saturday, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks had been perched on a rooftop from where he opened fire at Trump during a rally. One of his bullets grazed Trump’s ear. The shooting resulted in the death of Comperatore while two others were critically injured. A countersniper had killed Crooks shortly after the shooting started.
Following the incident, the Secret Service and its director Kimberly Cheatle have received a lot of criticism for not appropriately securing the location of the campaign rally.
