(FixThisNation.com) – Many House Republicans want to launch impeachment proceedings however there does not seem to be a general consensus on which member of the Biden administration they should target.

This week, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) supported the possibility of impeachment charges being launched against Attorney General Merrick Garland, following the recent conflict in the GOP conference after Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) resolution to impeach President Biden.

This impeachment attempt for Biden, came right after House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-Tenn.) announced that the panel was launching a formal investigation into Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas which is necessary in order for an impeachment inquiry to go through.

Following the GOP’s success in winning back the House majority in the midterm elections, a lot of Republican lawmakers have been focused on Mayorkas, with the crisis at the border leading to many impeachment resolutions filed by lawmakers after they were sworn in.

However, in recent months there has been a significant reduction in border crossings, which has largely led to the migration crisis not being a topic that frequently makes national headlines. However, the recent revelations about the Department of Justice’s handling of the investigations relating to President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, have led to many expressing frustrations with Garland’s operations.

McCarthy also wrote on Twitter this week, stating that if the whistleblower allegations were found to be true, then there would be “a significant part of a larger impeachment inquiry” into Garland and the weaponization of the Department of Justice.
