(FixThisNation.com) – On Monday, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., criticized the debt ceiling deal that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and President Joe Biden reached over the weekend, claiming that he would have preferred to see the debt limit increased for 90 days in order to fix what he referred to as “this disaster for defense.”

Graham, ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, stated that his main problem with the deal reached is that Biden’s proposed defense budget for the 2024 fiscal year remains intact, he noted that the budget is “a joke.” He proceeded to state that he was going to use all the power he has in his hands in order to ensure that the Senate votes on amendments that would “undo this catastrophe for defense.” He added that he would even support a debt ceiling increase for 90 days in order to fix this “disaster for defense.”

He proceeded to write that he has “total disgust” for the decision that political leaders were making to damage national security at a “time of great peril.”

Biden’s $886 billion defense budget for the 2024 fiscal year includes a 3.2 percent increase from last year. However, that percentage as Graham noted in an interview with Fox News on Sunday is lower than the inflation rate. Graham further added that he was opposed to the decrease in the number of ships in the navy from 298 to 291 when China was increasing its own Navy.

Biden’s Secretary of the Navy, Carlos Del Toro, stated last February that China currently has around 340 ships and is planning to increase them to 400 by 2030.
