(FixThisNation.com) – The Nation in a recent report has noted that many teachers are pushing for their union to no longer endorse and support the Biden administration until there is a “permanent cease-fire” in Gaza.

The teachers are pressing the National Education Association, which has more than 3 million members, to rescind their support for the 2024 Biden reelection campaign. They had first endorsed the president last April.

Palestinian American teacher Rahaf Othman, 45, told The Nation that she was distraught when she had first found out about the conflict between Israel and the Hamas terrorists which had first started on Oct. 7. She further explained that the matter was personal as the union has focused on social and racial justice, and supporting Biden in this case is not only providing additional weapons which can be used to kill the Palestinian people but also sends the message that Palestinians do not matter and that they are just collateral damage.

Othman, who is an Illinois Education Association (IEA) Local 218 member, has argued that she is pushing the union to stop supporting Biden until a permanent cease-fire is secured. There are several members of the NEA board of directors who have also joined that push.

The outlet in their report noted that the teachers are specifically pushing for the United States to stop providing funding, military equipment, and intelligence to Israel. They are also pushing for a fair due process for refugees and asylum seekers in the country.
