Jack Smith Orders To Supreme Court To Destroy Trump

(FixThisNation.com) – On Monday, Special counsel Jack Smith made a filing to the Supreme Court urging them to reject the immunity claims of former President Donald Trump. He also pushed that the court should stop Trump from pushing for further delays in his federal election subversion cases.

Smith argued in his filing on Monday that Trump’s claims that he had presidential immunity from criminal prosecution in connection to any of the actions he had taken on Jan. 6 went against the “bedrock principle” in the country that there was no one who was “above the law” not even the U.S. president.

Smith wrote that the former President’s constitutional duty to ensure that the laws were executed did not mean that he had the right to violate them. He argued that even if the court did end up determining that there was a level of presidential immunity that should be granted to Trump, the former President’s use of official powers in this case had “a private aim” which means that it should still be prosecutable as private conduct.

He continued by arguing that all U.S. presidents have known that there is the possibility that they could face criminal liability for certain official acts after they leave the White House.

However, Trump and his legal team have argued that all of his actions in connection to Jan. 6, 2021, including his acts before that day should have presidential immunity. In February Trump had called for the Supreme Court justices to put a pause on his trial and to wait before taking up the immunity claims.
