(FixThisNation.com) – The House Democrats have received heavy backlash after waving a Ukrainian flag in the Congress’ lower chamber during a vote for a foreign aid package that would provide $60 billion in aid to Ukraine.

On Saturday Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to slam the move arguing that they had flown the Ukrainian flag in the House of Representatives while they were voting to send more of the hard-earned money of Americans to aid a “corrupt foreign regime.” He continued that afterward they just shout “Ukraine” while working in order to ensure that the Ukrainian and not the U.S. border is secure.

This post came after the House approved a spending package that includes $95 billion in foreign aid, out of which $60 billion is going to be specifically sent to Ukraine.

The package passed through the House in a 311 to 112 vote, still, it faced a lot of opposition from some lawmakers, while there were others who appeared to be particularly offended by the Democrats move to wave Ukrainian flags after the expiration of the vote.

Rep. Marc Molinaro (R-N.Y.) who presided over the vote argued that the flag display had been “inappropriate” and that it was a violation of the protocol in the House.

The comments by Molinaro had resulted in jeers from the Democrats but had been supported by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) who after taking the microphone had called for everyone to put the flags away. This is a similar sentiment to the one she had shared on social media where she had argued that it was disgraceful for any flag other than the American one to be displayed in the House Chamber.
