(FixThisNation.com) – The Daily Caller in a recent report noted that there is a new petition attacking Democrat California Gov. Gavin Newsom. The petition received approval on Tuesday by Shirley Weber, the state’s Secretary of State. Depending on how the petition does Newsom could end up being ousted from office which could cause trouble in the political landscape in California.

The petition which notes a number of grievances against Newsom was brought forward by Rescue California. Among the issues discussed in the petition are concerns related to immigration policy, public finances, taxation, homelessness, and the handling of COVID-19.

Weber’s public memorandum notes that the petition will need to receive 1,311,963 valid signatures, which is around 12 percent of the votes from the last gubernatorial election.

The U.S. Census Bureau has highlighted the economic situation in which this petition has been brought forward as there has been a drop in tax paying residents in California from July 2022 to July 2023, with 75,400 people having left the state.

Recall California along with other critics have slammed Newsom for reportedly placing more of a focus on his personal ambitions instead of focusing on the welfare of the city. As evidence of this, they point to the “$68 billion budget deficit” as well as the funds that were misallocated and have been used for the healthcare of undocumented immigrants.

In 2022 California had a $97.5 billion surplus, while a year later the state had a $31.5 billion deficit.
