(FixThisNation.com) – This morning a massive container ship in Baltimore, Maryland collided with a high-traffic bridge. According to reports, this is not the first time that the ship has been involved in such a collision while docking.

The container ship DALI had collided on Tuesday morning with Francis Scott Key Bridge which led to a part of the bridge collapsing. Authorities have suspected that this was a mass casualty incident. Previous reports have shown that this is not the first collision of DALI while it was transporting goods. It was noted that in 2016 a far less serious incident had occurred.

On July 11, 2016, DALI collided with a stone wall in Antwerp, Belgium dock. The collision had resulted in damage on the container ship which then had to be docked for repairs. This incident had not resulted in any injuries, unlike the Tuesday incident.

The FBI, U.S. Coast Guard, and local first responders and emergency groups have placed their attention on searching for people who they believe ended up in the water, according to the Baltimore Fire Department director of communications Kevin Cartwright. Officials had described this incident as a mass casualty event.

Baltimore Fire Chief James Wallace has claimed that at least two people had been pulled out of the water after the collapse and that one of them had ended up being in serious condition. They are also “looking for upwards of seven people” however as he noted it is likely that this number will continue to change.
