(FixThisNation.com) – On Friday, the Manhattan district attorney’s office argued that former President Donald Trump had violated a gag order imposed in his hush money criminal case this week after he made a false statement about the judge’s daughter on social media.

The DA office requested Judge M. Merchan to clarify the exact scope of the gag or order which was issued on Tuesday. They further pushed that Trump, who is the presumptive GOP nominee should be instructed to “immediately desist from attacks on family members.”

Joshua Steinglass, the Assistant District Attorney claimed that the gag order is meant to stop the harassment that could be faced by any court staff or their families. He added that as such the judge’s daughter needed to be off-limits from Trump’s attacks. He added that there should be punishment for Trump in the case of any other violations.

Trump’s lawyers however have opposed this interpretation of the order and have argued that the gag order does not block Trump from making any remarks about Loren Merchan, who is a political consultant working for a firm that it employed by many Democrats including President Joe Biden.

Todd Blanche and Susan Necheles, Trump’s lawyers have argued that the Court was not in a position to “direct” Trump to do anything that is not required by the gag order. They further claimed that the suggestion of the DA currently was actually to expand the gag order.

Trump’s trial relates to a hush money payment that had been made to adult film star Stormy Daniels on his behalf to keep her quiet about their alleged affair ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
