(FixThisNation.com) – President Joe Biden once again found himself receiving blows from Twitter users over his latest remarks regarding his administration’s plans for securing the border and handling both the surge in immigration and drug trafficking in the southern border. During his remarks, Biden claimed that 20,000 pounds had been brought illegally into the country. He then added that this could potentially lead to the deaths of up to “1000 Americans.”
In his statement, Biden also said that vice President Kamala Harris was well-informed of the situation and the need for security at the border. However, many users were quick to point out that previously Harris had repeatedly stated that the border is “secure.” Biden’s assessment that Harris was aware of the situation received the most online criticism.
Users also noted that his numbers were completely inaccurate as that much fentanyl could kill a lot more people than Biden was estimating.
They then added that illegal immigrants were being paid by smugglers to handle the transportation of the drug. Despite the risks, many illegal immigrants accept help with transportation for a price.
During Thursday’s address, Biden said that the administration was really focusing its attention on the best ways to help curb illegal immigration. In the past few weeks, Biden has also pushed lawmakers to look for ways to address the situation at the border. Others in the Democratic Party have also begun pushing the federal government to start working toward immigration reforms that would stop the influx of immigrants.
