(FixThisNation.com) – GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley has issued a warning for her own party arguing that it was becoming the “playpen” of former president Donald Trump. Haley’s comments came during an event in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she is ahead of the state’s primary election.
Haley noted in her remarks that people needed to look at what was occurring at the RNC and that it was likely that they would be choosing a director and chair that were going to be under Trump’s influence long before the end of the party’s primary race ended.
Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has officially announced that she will be stepping down from her position on March 5, after the Super Tuesday primaries. The announcement had come weeks after Trump had recommended that the RNC change its leadership and suggested that North Carolina Republican chair Michael Whatley take over as the next chair of the RNC. He also suggested that Lara Trump, his daughter-in-law, serve as co-chair and pushed for Chris LaCivita, his campaign senior adviser, to receive leadership positions.
Haley continued by pointing out that there was a resolution in the RNC that stated that Donald Trump could not use the RNC funds for his own legal efforts, which had caused the former President to be upset. She added that the fact that he was upset was everything that people needed to know about that case.
Earlier this month Lara Trump had told reporters that if she were appointed to the RNC then all of the party’s funds would be used for the campaign effort.
