(FixThisNation.com) – On Thursday, the Manhattan district attorney’s office that brought forward the hush money case against former President Donald Trump has indicated that there would not be any other delays in the trial following the recent documents that were added in the discovery process. The documents resulted in a delay to what was supposed to be the start of the criminal proceeding.
Trump’s legal team requested that they be given at least 90 days in order to review the over 100,000 pages of records that were handed over by federal prosecutors last week. However, Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the case, only granted them 30 days for the review process.
On Thursday in a new court filing the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s (D) office noted that the records that had been obtained by the U.S. attorney’s office only included “limited materials” that were related to the subject matter of this case that the defendant had not previously had access to. The prosecutors have argued that the 30-day delay was more than sufficient time for them to review the documents.
The memorandum argues that the majority of the production is completely “immaterial, duplicative or substantially duplicative” of previous materials or evidence relating to Michael Cohen’s federal convictions.
Prosecutors have claimed that out of all the documents less than 270 related to former fixer Michael Cohen’s federal criminal case. They further point out that there is no need for further adjournment other than the current order as the new information was quite limited.
