(FixThisNation.com) – On Monday, former President Donald Trump attacked the bipartisan border security bill that had been brought forth by senators referring to it as the Republican party’s “Death Wish.”

In a statement to Truth Social, his social media platform, only hours after the release of the bill, Trump argued that this border bill would only be supported by “a Radical Left Democrat” or a “fool” as it would grant Shutdown Authority after the number of encounters reaches 5000 each day despite the fact that they already have the authority to close the U.S. border. He added that closing the border was something that needed to happen.

The border bill was in part written by Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.).

Trump continued by arguing that this border bill would just be a present to the Democrats while it would mark a “Death Wish” for the GOP. He added that this bill essentially absolves the Democrats from the “HORRIBLE JOB” they have done on the Border and instead, all of the blame is placed on the GOP. He then pushed that it was necessary for them to have a Border and Immigration bill that would not be bound to foreign aid.

The opposition expressed by the former President is going to make it even harder for the bill to pass as many House Republicans have opposed it.

The legislation includes $20 billion for border security and provides the federal government with the temporary authority to deport and expel migrants after a certain number of daily crossings is exceeded. It would also put an end to the “catch and release” policy while increasing the asylum screening requirements.
