(FixThisNation.com) – On Saturday, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), who is the only Palestinian-American currently serving in Congress called for voters in Michigan to vote “uncommitted” in the party’s primary.
Tlaib has often spoken about her opposition to President Biden’s and his administration’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war, which is part of the reason she is pushing Dearborn, Mich., Democrats to be “uncommitted” in their vote during the Feb. 27 primary instead of supporting President Biden who is seeking reelection.
On Saturday, Tlaib posted a video as part of the Listen to Michigan campaign in which she argued that if they wanted to be louder then they needed to vote “uncommitted.” The group is working to push the Biden administration to change its handling of the war in Gaza and has the support of Tlaib in these endeavors.
Tlaib has argued that this was the best way for them to raise their voices and make their presence more visible. She added that at this time they felt “unseen” and “neglected” by the federal government.
Tlaib has joined Michigan activists who have also blasted Biden over his handling of foreign policy. Tlaib who has been critical of the federal administration since the start of the war in October has been calling for a cease-fire in Gaza. In November, she ended up being censured over her criticisms of Israel and the use of the phrase “from the river to the sea,” which certain Jewish groups have claimed is antisemitic.
The Listen to Michigan campaign is being led by Arab American activists who are attempting to show Biden how losing their support could affect him in the state which he had only managed to win by three points in 2020.
